As Ford focuses on growing its truck and SUV offerings, the company's lineup of cars has been gradually shrinking. But one car which will always stand the test of time is the Mustang.
Nearly six decades after its 1964, the Mustang remains one of the most iconic American cars ever made. And the 2021 model year lineup offers even more performance, style, and standard safety technology.
While the Shelby GT350 and Bullitt edition Mustangs said farewell in 2020, the new year sees the return of the legendary Mustang Mach 1, as well as the launch of an all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUV.
So let's take a quick run through all of the different Ford Mustang offerings for the 2021 model year.
2021 Ford Mustang Ecoboost
The 2021 Ford Mustang Ecoboost is an accessible sports car that delivers a perfect blend of performance, comfort, and efficiency.
It's available as a fastback or convertible model, and now comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360, a suite of advanced driver-assistance tech that includes Lane-Keeping Assistance, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, and more.
The signature Ecoboost four-cylinder engine makes this model the most fuel efficient of the gas powered Mustangs, while still being plenty of fun to drive thanks to its 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.
Adding the available High Performance package to the Mustang Ecoboost will get you 20 extra horsepower. That's enough to make it the "most powerful in-line four-cylinder in America," and it also comes with an active exhaust system, unique engine calibration, and a sport-tuned chassis.

2021 Ford Mustang GT
The Mustang GT takes the excitement up a level with a standard 5.0-liter V8 engine and that famous pony car exhaust roar. Opt for the GT, and you'll get 460 horsepower, 420 lb-ft of torque and a zero-to-60 time just shy of five seconds.
Like the Ecoboost, the GT is available as a fastback or convertible, and comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360. Other smile-inducing features are port fuel direct injection, an electronic line-lock, and five selectable drive modes, including one called "Drag Strip."
Need more track-prowess? Opt for the Performance Package Level 2 to get MagneRide and some tuned goodies carried over from the Shelby GT350.

2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1
The legendary Mach 1 makes its return in 2021, after a 17-year gap from its last appearance.
Packing a V8 that delivers 480 horsepower, this limited-edition fastback is positioned between the GT and the Shelby models in terms of performance and handling. It features unique aerodynamic components, an upgraded suspension, and Ford Performance parts plucked straight from the Mustang Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT500 models.
MagneRide and a Tremec six-speed manual transmission are standard, and an available Handling Package adds even more downforce, stickier Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires, and enhanced chassis tuning.

Ready to steal the hearts of driving enthusiasts everywhere, the 760-horsepower Mustang Shelby GT500 is the most powerful Ford production vehicle of all time. Its supercharged 5.2-liter V8 will launch the car from zero to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds, and allow it to rip through the quarter-mile in under 11 seconds.
Taking cues from Ford's racing programs, the Mustang Shelby GT500 comes standard with a Tremec seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, next-gen MagneRide suspension, custom Ford Performance-spec Michelin tires, and a track-ready braking system from Brembo.
Serious about your lap times? The available Carbon Fiber Track Package adds wider carbon fiber wheels, custom Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, an adjustable GT4 wing, and deletes the rear seats to further reduce weight.

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E
For Ford, 2021 is a historical year, as means the addition of a new member to the iconic Mustang lineup. The all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUV joins the family alongside the Mustang sports coupe and convertible. This is a first in the nameplate's 57-year history, and it's a huge deal.
Six variants are offered with the debut of Mustang Mach-E: Select, Premium, First Edition, California Route 1, GT, and GT Performance.
Ford's entry into electric vehicles is just like the rest of the Mustang line-up, meaning it has something for everyone. The Mach-E Premium model is characterized by its attention to luxury, the First Edition is a limited release that has model-specific styling, and at up to 305 miles per full charge, the California Route 1 provides the most cruising range. Options for extended-range batteries and all-wheel drive configurations are also available for select Mach-E models.
The two GT versions embody the pursuit of achieving Mustang performance while utilizing all-electric efficiency and convenience.

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT & GT Performance
The Mach-E GT and GT Performance models deserve a special call-out because they truly offer Mustang-levels of sports car performance.
Both GT variants are aiming for an estimated equivalent of 480 horsepower, with the GT delivering 600 lb-ft of torque and the GT Performance laying down 634 lb-ft of torque. The result is a zero-to-60 mph time of around 3.5 seconds for the GT Performance. For those keeping score, that's comparable to the Mustang Shelby GT500.
