1. Car Buying Advice / New Cars / SUVs With Big Updates for 2022

You don't need to be an industry expert to realize how strong the SUV market is right now. And it's no exaggeration to say that the current crop of family-friendly people movers are the best performing, most fuel efficient, and safest example we've ever seen. And as you can probably imagine, hitting all the right marks takes a lot of work.

To remain fresh, competitive, and exciting, the lifecycle of most modern SUVs is roughly five to seven years. In practice, that means as soon as a new SUV comes out, the designers responsible for it are already working on their baby's replacement. So as we look ahead toward the bumper crop which will be the 2022 model year, here are five SUVs that are getting significant upgrades. Keep your eyes on this page for up-to-the-minute information on models from all your favorite brands!

2022 Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass might be an entry-level compact SUV, but the updated 2022 model gives this Jeep a more premium feel. The second-generation Compass has always looked like a scaled-down version of the mid-size Grand Cherokee, and the freshened exterior looks even better with new headlights, bumpers and wheels.

With a completely redesigned instrument panel that boasts a 10.1-inch touchscreen display, however, the interior is where the 2022 Jeep Compass really shines. When it goes on sale this fall, the new Compass will also boast advancements such as a semi-autonomous safety feature called Highway Assist.

2022 Buick Enclave

Buick has injected plenty of luxury and style into its current lineup, but the redesigned 2022 Buick Enclave will stand as a true flagship for this brand when it goes on sale this fall. First launched in 2018, the second-generation Enclave was already a top choice in the mid-size three-row SUV segment, but the new 2022 Enclave gets even better.

On the outside, the Enclave has a more dynamic style. Along with a larger grille and a split headlight, there are some eye-catching taillights at the rear. with new features like a push-button gear selector and available quilted leather seats, this SUV adds even more luxury, style and functionality inside.

2022 Volkswagen Tiguan

In addition to the all-new VW Taos and VW ID.4 crossovers, Volkswagen is also updating the Tiguan for 2022. VW's lineup now boasts five SUVs, and the Tiguan is the best-selling model both in the U.S. and abroad.

This compact SUV has been restyled inside and out for the 2022 model year. The front end of the new Tiguan looks similar to the equally new Golf hatchback, while the interior has been updated with more content and style. The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan boasts an impressive list of standard features such as LED headlights on the outside, and heated seats and VW's advanced Digital Cockpit on the inside.

2022 Toyota Corolla Cross

The Toyota Corolla is one of the best-selling vehicles of all time, and Toyota will expand this reach with the all-new 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross. Standing as the eighth option in Toyota's vast SUV lineup, the Corolla Cross will be positioned between the subcompact C-HR and the compact RAV4 in terms of pricing. This all-new model has a clean, stylish design, a practical interior, a fuel-efficient powertrain which features available all-wheel drive. It'll be a compelling choice for SUV buyers looking for reliability and value.

2022 Ford Expedition

The current Ford Expedition debuted for the 2018 model year, and this full-size family hauler is getting some big upgrades for 2022. For starters, all models are expected to get an updated exterior design, but the bigger news is that a handful of new models are coming.

Building on the success of the F-150 Hybrid, the Expedition will be getting a first-ever Hybrid model, and to show that Ford is in touch with enthusiasts, the Expedition will also be adding an ST performance model. In addition, there's a new Timberline off-road model with skid plates, meatier tires, and a suspension lift. At this time, Ford hasn't officially released information or images for the 2022 Ford Expedition (the 2021 Expedition Max is pictured). But expect it to debut this summer.
