2022 Honda Civic Sedan Exterior
With the new redesign, Civic is going back to basics with a clean and straightforward styling that embodies its purist roots and evergreen driving values.
This mix of design concepts from previous Civic generations plus a "less is more" philosophy helps emphasize the most important offering of the vehicle: addressing the needs of the people inside. The result is meaningful design elements that enhance outward visibility, allow for a wider stance, and improve aerodynamic performance.
These changes don't mean the Civic isn't a looker, though. With an elongated hood, sweeping body surfaces, and elegant continuity, the all-new Civic is a refreshingly simple take on the classic compact sedan.
For the 2022 model year, Civic will be made available in eight exterior colors:
- Aegean Blue Metallic
- Crystal Black Pearl
- Lunar Silver Metallic
- Rallye Red
- Morning Mist Metallic
- Meteorite Gray Metallic (new for 2022)
- Sonic Gray Pearl (new for 2022)
- Platinum White Pearl (new for 2022 and exclusive to Civic)
Optional packages also help to enhance the exterior for both function and styling. For example, the HPD Package adds a special decklid spoiler as well as a variety of underbody spoilers, while the All-Season Protection Packages can add splash guards and wheel locks.
2022 Honda Civic Sedan Interior
The design simplicity from the exterior can also be found inside the cabin, where occupants will be treated to an open, spacious layout with uncluttered furnishings.
One of the main highlights of this interior is the new front seat design -- featured on all Civic trims -- which utilizes Honda's Body Stabilizing Seat approach plus a new-generation seat frame to better hold the body in place, ultimately increasing long-term comfort.
This attention to detail can also be found in areas like material selection and specific product design. The center console trim was specially created to hide fingerprints and smudges, while the air vents have been hidden behind a flow-through design element to maintain an uninterrupted visual flow across the entire dashboard.
Even the new color touchscreen has been thoughtfully shaped to produce less reflections against the windshield. Speaking of the infotainment display, the standard 7-inch version plus the available 9-inch version found on Civic Touring -- the largest touchscreen ever in any Honda vehicle -- both feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integrations for the ultimate in hands-free connectivity and entertainment.
The Civic Touring model offers the most new interior features, including Civic's first all-digital instrument display, Civic's first Bose Premium Sound System, and standard Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging.
2022 Honda Civic Sedan Performance
Two powerful and fuel efficient 4-cylinder engines are at the core of the 2022 Honda Civic: a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter version and a turbocharged 1.5-liter version. Both engines feature better power delivery, sound, technology and fuel economy than the versions found in the previous-generation Civic.
The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder (standard in LX and Sport trims) delivers 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque, while the turbocharged 1.5-liter produces 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. These engines are paired to an updated continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) with specific performance tuning for each type of powertrain combination.
Various hardware and software improvements for the CVT deliver the best of both worlds, with better fuel efficiency as well as more driving excitement from earlier downshifts and Step-Shift programming. Civic's Step-Shift simulates physical gear changes when accelerating aggressively for that extra bit of oomph.
Civic Sport and Touring trims feature an additional Sport mode, which when activated by the driver modifies the drive ratios and mapping for a sportier response while also changing the instrument lighting to red.
Other performance improvements include a stiffer body structure, re-tuned suspension, an additional 1.5-inches of wheelbase, and an all-new and lighter aluminum front subframe, to name a few. All of these elements come together to deliver a smoother and more precise driving experience; a perfect accompaniment to the peppy engines that Honda is famous for.
EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2022 Honda Civic is up to 33 mpg city and 42 mpg highway.
2022 Honda Civic Sedan Safety
The Honda Sensing suite of active safety and driver assistive technologies comes standard on every 2022 Civic, and features significant improvements in detection, awareness and reactions.
Updates to software plus a new, more powerful processor means the system is faster and more accurate when it comes to recognizing pedestrians, bicyclists and other vehicles. These improvements also mean smoother applications and quicker responses when the system intervenes with braking, throttle or steering inputs.
Two new features have also been added to Honda Sensing: Traffic Jam Assist and Low Speed Braking Control. These driver-assistive functions join an already impressive list of capabilities, like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, collision mitigation, and road departure mitigation.

The 2022 model year brings about the most technologically advanced and most performance-capable Civic Sedan to date, along with an elegant re-interpretation of the classic compact sedan design.
